JEANIE’S JOURNAL – 2nd Entry
This week I signed up to run my second half marathon. Part of the registration form asks for your age. So I wrote in my age and thought to myself….when I was 16 years old I thought that a 31-year-old woman was very old. Now that I am 31 I don’t think that. However, I often look in the mirror and wonder why do I have dark circles, where did that line on my forehead start to look more noticeable and do I have what they call crow’s feet?!Our intern was helping me take inventory a few days latter and she noticed a new eye cream on the shelf. She said that she had read something in the paper recommending that girls in their early 20s should start to wear eye cream. If only I had read that at her age or had Shannon sitting on my shoulder saying, “Jeanie don’t forget to wear your sunglasses”. Most teen girls in the late 80s early 90s were more interested in getting that beautiful tan and often competed against one another. Unfortunately, I had to compete with my cousin who had more of an olive complexion so she always won.
I guess growing old is part of life and we can listen to those around us or we can think we will always be that teenager. The choice is always our… we just have to learn to live with it.
