JEANIE’S JOURNAL – Jeanie’s 3rd Entry
I ran my second half marathon on 2/15 and it felt awesome!
It was great to run into an old friend Kelly Berry from college. She was running with Team in Training®. This is an organization that raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It is always great to see these guys out on the racecourse because they are having fun raising money for a great cause. Cancer is a horrible disease and it takes so much out of that person and their family.
She and I latter talked about the Nike San Francisco Marathon in October. She said that it is such a great experience to run with a group of women. The best part of the event for her was receiving the marathon medal. She explained that the medal was a Tiffany’s necklace and that the San Francisco Firemen place it around your neck. I was thinking to myself… a single girl… a beautiful necklace…a HOT guy, now that’s worth running 26.2 miles! We also laughed about how every girl would definitely have a bad hair day, so it’s ALL GOOD. Maybe, on mile 25 instead of a water station they should have a hair and makeup station.
My goal for next year is to muster the courage and strength to do the full marathon. I’ll keep you posted!
