LIFE ACCORDING TO LISA – You Really Do Need A Daily Skincare Program (SCP)

lisa-pic-150x150I’m sure you’ve all wondered, “Do I really need a toner and do I have to use that moisturizer?” The answer is yes! I am here to tell you that a regular SCP will pay off for years to come.

For years beauty advisors have told us that we need to purchase the complete daily regime; cleanser, toner and moisturizer. The thought process being that products of the same line work best when used together. The ingredients in each item complement each other. This stands to reason because the developers of products are not just interested in making a good cleanser, they are interested in their customers getting the best possible results. So it makes sense to say that you aren’t going to get the best results if you are only using one part of their daily SCP.

Obviously, a cleanser is used to clean the face and neck, but did you know that the majority of cleansers have an alkaline PH (the acidity level of something) that leaves your face in an alkaline state? Because our skin’s normal PH is fairly acidic, 5.5, we need to use a product after the cleanser in order to return the PH to normal. This is accomplished by using a toner which is normally acid based. The toner returns the skin to its correct PH level and the skin can then better utilize the moisturizer (the last step). Nowadays there are numerous moisturizer formulas including oil-free, cream based, lotion based, etc. Don’t think of a moisturizer as a product that “just makes my face look oily”. There is a version that is “right” for your skin type and it should keep your face moist and not “greasy” looking.

While that may sound complicated and too much mumbo-jumbo just remember that when you are tempted to make shortcuts on your Skin Care Program that you won’t get the results that you are hoping for. The best make-up, mascara or blush can’t cover up neglected skin. Be sure your “canvas” is taken care of. It’s the only one you have!
