In search of good advice for my readers, I decided to find out a few of the pet peeves that men have about make up. Most men do not understand why we use it in the first place but, I interviewed a friend in hopes that we could pin down some specific points.

1. Too much bronzer! According to my source, “looking like a pumpkin is not cute.” Going to the tanning bed religiously and layering bronzer on one’s face is truly unattractive. The caked on bronzer is a common phenomena for many women these days…especially during summer. He also suggested that we use just a little bit of bronzer, “without the shimmer…why do you want to look silver?”2. Dark eye makeup. The typical male does not understand why some of us insist on wearing dark eye shadow and dark eyeliner in everyday life. My source said “a little black eyeliner is all you need to accentuate the eyes but that’s enough!” (I have personally fallen victim to the dark eye makeup mistake and tended to take the smoky eye to an entirely new level, especially during my freshman year of high school. My friends can attest to this fact!) He says, “The goth look is not pretty.”

3. Feel free to gloss! Lipstick can be overrated according to my “typical male.” But, if done right, lip gloss can be the best thing to wear. I had always wondered if men actually liked the shiny pout and according to my source it’s one of the best cosmetic products we wear.

The bottom line is to keep it all in moderation. Unless it’s a formal event where you can get away with a little more, let your natural, beautiful self shine through!
