CONFESSIONS OF A HIGH MAINTENANCE CHICK – Seeing Red???
Don’t cha just love Facebook? I had no idea what to write about this week. So, I let my fingers do the walking and polled my Facebook Friends to find out their most burning beauty/style questions. The results? Enough comments to provide me with a month’s worth of blogs!!! This week, I will address Ms Jennifer Barnett’s question “What products can I use to cover redness in the skin?”
There are ways to cover redness, but first let’s get to the root of the problem and find out why you are seeing red. Let’s determine if your redness is temporary or persistent?
Temporary- This can be a result of allergies, contact with irritating substances, changes in weather, pollution or stress.
Persistent – as the name implies, your skin stays red and itchy all the time. If this is the case, you may have rosacea. Rosacea is a skin condition that affects as many as 14 million Americans, especially fair-skinned adults age 30-50 who flush or blush easily. While rosacea can’t be cured, it can certainly be controlled.
Clinique, creator of the uber-popular 3-Step Skincare System, has created (under the guidance of dermatologists) a collection of products to help soothe and calm both temporary and persistent forms of redness and rosacea. While other companies may offer redness solutions, Clinique’s formulations are effective, gentle and reasonably priced. The standouts from this collection are:
Urgent Relief Cream ($30.00): This is the perfect remedy if you need redness relief N-O-W! This oil-free formula quickly calms flare-ups of visible redness and irritation.
Daily Relief Cream ($39.50): Daily moisturizer for people with persistent redness.
Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder ($32.50): Wow! Long name… awesome product. A yellow tinted mineral powder and treatment in one! I love using this powder on my clients and a cool trick is to ‘sandwich’ the powder between foundation. Example: After applying treatment, apply a thin layer of the yellow powder, apply liquid foundation, set with more yellow powder. This technique instantly cools and calms the skin and the yellow cast of the powder color corrects redness. The transformation is amazing!
So, if you look in the mirror and all you can see is red, think white! Look for the consultant in the White Clinique Coat for instant relief!

Great blog!!! I have rosacea and well, there is nothing more to say about that. No fun! – I have not tried the Clinique but am sure they are great products.
Pevonia Botanica also has a great line for treating rosacea and it is paraben free.
Thanks for the great information addressing us “red faced” sisters!

Thanks, I am off to the Clinique counter to scoop these products!
