ERIN’S STYLE FILE – Tie One On

Erin's 150 x 150A good friend of mine (shout out to Amy M!) recently sent me an article about scarves. It basically said that in this economy, if you don’t have a lot of money to drop on a new wardrobe, buy a couple of inexpensive scarves instead. So true! My philosophy is that accessories can totally transform an ensemble, scarves included.scarves_celebs I have a couple that are suited for fall and winter (think pashmina) but back in the spring I purchased several of the lightweight, warm- weather scarves. Here in the south, we can wear these well into October or even November before switching to something designed for warmth. These lightweight pieces look great with a basic, solid colored tee or tank. You can find great scarves in pretty much any mall store these days as well as boutiques. One of my favorite places to find unique, inexpensive pieces is at street fairs. Most vendors will even haggle with you!

I also like taking the smaller, silk squares and tying them onto my handbags to add a little flair. Check with your mom, grandma or older relatives for vintage finds as these scarves were popular back in the day. This is how I came to acquire a vintage Pucci scarf that I love accessorizing with!
