JOHN BON JOVI, PLEASE CALL ME! New York Film Academy
Okay, if you’ve been keeping up with my exploits, you’ve seen how over the years, I’ve never given up on this project. I really believe that it’s something special and fortunately, I’m not the only one. You see, it would be different if only my “inner circle” thought it was worth anything but actually, there’s an interesting twist I need to insert here.
In the Spring of 2004, I am in New York on a business trip with my company. A girlfriend of mine decides to fly up from Birmingham and spend the weekend in New York so we can go shopping. On Saturday morning we have an appointment at the Bliss Spa in Soho (excellent spa by the way!) and as we walk into the building I see a sign that says “New York Film Academy.”
The musical is just one of several projects that I’ve worked on over the years which include several screenplays and a sitcom or two, so it was really cool to be standing at the film academy entrance. I asked my friend, Richelle, to take my picture so she did and we had a great laugh. I also picked up some brochures for souvenirs and stuffed them in my bag as we headed up to Bliss.
A few weeks later, when we were back at home, I had this overwhelming feeling that I was missing my calling. It was like deep in my soul I knew that God wanted me to do something with my projects instead of just waiting for the right opportunity to come along. It was at that moment, FHC Productions (Faith*Hope*Charity) was born and I knew what I had to do next…go to film school…and the only film school that would do was none other than the New York Film Academy!
