SOUL CAFE – Are You Feeling Insignificant?
Ever had a sleepless night? Sure you have! Haven’t we all? Unfortunately, I’ve had several of those sleepless nights lately thanks to a bad sinus infection and a bout with allergies. I’ve been coughing my head off and can’t sleep. I’ve used Vicks Vapor rub, propped myself up on two pillows and even took the “nighttime sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever so you can rest medicine” but to no avail. It’s 3:55 am, and since I can’t sleep…I decided that I might as well write.
Besides…there’s a message on my heart that I want to share with you all. The message is simply this…YOU ARE MAGNIFICENT and SIGNIFICANT. I don’t know where you are in life at the moment, but I just want you to know that God will use you in mighty ways for His glory if you’ll let Him. So many people today sometimes just feel so insignificant…like their life is meaningless and too mundane. I know I do at times. Well…no matter what your station is in life, you matter to God and are valuable. You are here on earth for a purpose.
At this very moment you may feel like you’re buried under a sink full of dirty dishes and a pile of laundry so deep you’ll never get out, but I’m here to tell you that you can climb out of that pit! Don’t let your housework, or lack thereof, define you. My husband jokingly says that I’m a “domestic goddess waiting on the urge to be domestic.” It is so true! I detest housework, and boy do I procrastinate doing my household chores sometimes. Anyway, I use to have negative thoughts all the time and thought I was a terrible person because I wasn’t some great “Domestic Diva” like I thought I should be. But then I came to realize that while domestic skills aren’t my forte, I am good at other things. I am a good mother and wife. I am a good friend. I am a good sister. I am a good daughter. I’m a good listener and have a BIG caring heart. I have seen where God has used me to be an encourager to others. Most of my career has been spent working in the special education field working with children and adults including those with autism. So the ability to have patience and to help teach others with special needs is something God has gifted me with.
Today I want you to look inside yourself to find your gifts and talents. I bet you’re creative and can find lots of ways that you make a difference in this world. If you can’t think of anything, my advice is to start volunteering in your community. Go work in a homeless shelter or help tutor at an afterschool program. When you give of yourself, you usually receive a blessing. If nothing else, it makes you feel productive…like your making a positive impact in the world around you.
Look at David. He was a simple Shepherd, and look how God used him is such a mighty way to defeat Goliath. What giants are you facing in your life? You can be like David and overcome. Keep God first and honor Him in all that you do. You’ll be blessed and come to realize your worth. And please remember…you are MAGNIFICENT & SIGNIFICANT.
Peace & Blessings,
