BFF (BEAUTY & FASHION FOREVER) – The Art Of Shopping
I CONFESS – my closet doesn’t exactly reflect the style that I project in my head. As I turn the pages of all of my favorite fashion magazines and admire one look after the next and the countless things I hope to buy, (which I mentally subtract from my paycheck while deciding to skip groceries and eat Ramen), it strikes me that although I like trendy fashion I can be timid when it comes to putting it all together.
SMART GLAMOUR means that you don’t always have to do it yourself. It’s hard to actually admit this fact, mainly, because like most of us, I love to shop (though it can be stressful and SO time consuming). I love Marc Jacobs, D&G, Velvet, Lucky Brand, Juicy Couture and countless other brands – but when it comes to shopping, what many of us lack is the ART of choosing properly.
Obviously there is definitely an art to shopping. I’ll be the first to admit it because so often I go into my closet and stand there stuck and frustrated. And, this is, like, EVERY morning. I stand there thinking – What am I going to wear? I’m tired of wearing the same stuff…week after week.
I hate having too many bottoms and not enough tops; tops that don’t seem to go with any of my bottoms, yet when I was out shopping, I somehow imagined how all of these individual pieces could work together. All of this to say that my closet is a “hodge podge” of fashion faux pas, save a few pieces that stay in constant rotation from week to week.
I am the perfect candidate in need of a professional stylist and I know that I am not alone. The DIY shopping is great to a certain extent. I mean really. Just about every celebrity out there has a stylist. They didn’t come up with those “looks” themselves. They have an idea of who they are and what they like but their stylist does the rest. Voila! Instant style – we should be so lucky!
But, no worries, I do have a solution. And, it’s rated “E” for everyone, which means you don’t even need to have a “celebrity” bank account. Not even close. First things first, as always the key to recovery (and rejuvenation of your style and wardrobe) is admitting that you have a problem. Are you willing to take that first step?
