ERIN’S STYLE FILE – Sew Famous
These days, celebs left and right are slapping their names on fashion lines—Rachel Bilson, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, Hilary Duff, Gwen Stefani, even Sheree of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (although I don’t know that I’d classify her as a celebrity.) I’d bet half of them can’t even sketch or sew.
Most recently, Lindsay Lohan made her debut as “artistic designer” for Emanuel Ungaro. She collaborated with an experienced designer but was still met with tepid reviews.
Jessica Simpson has been in the game for a while now. Personally, I think her line makes some fabulous shoes and I’ve purchased a few pairs myself. Simpson also has an accessories line that includes great costume jewelry (I own and wear frequently a few pairs of their large hoop earrings) and big, colorful bags. Most recently, she’s introduced dress and luggage lines and I believe there’s some lingerie on the horizon.
I spotted Hilary Duff’s line, Femme for DKNY, in a magazine and was impressed. Not too surprising, because she does have a great personal style. When I wrote my post on scarves, she was one of the celebs who immediately came to mind. Girlfriend is always rocking a scarf and once even got creative and used a tablecloth! As far as her line goes, I’d love to have that fringed top.
Sheree’s line, She by Sheree, was renamed something more colorful by her critics -which was too unlady like to say here but you can use your imagination.
Who would you like to see come out with a fashion line? I love Rihanna’s style so I’d be curious to see what she would come up with.

Sheree (an others like her) are faux-lebrities.
What about celebrity fashion we DON’T want to see??? Heidi Montag Pratt, Kate Gosselin and Lady Gaga top THAT list!
Also, the strangest fashion marriage: Miley Cyrus + Max Azria = Clothes you can buy at Walmart.
Great article Erin… keep ‘em coming. I’m a fan!
Oooooh, good idea for a blog Sheryl! I definitely don’t want to see a line by Heidi. She did one a while back for Anchor Blue (at least that’s who I think it was for) and it was tragic. Very hoochie mama. Thanks for the props!
I forgot to mention in this post, but Lauren Conrad recently unveiled a line for Kohl’s. It appears to be cute and trendy but I wonder what the quality is like. I’ll have to take a peek in person and check it out.
I have seen several of the J. Simpson handbags and really like them!
