Ola!

As a makeup artist I’m always giving tips on how to apply makeup that stays on and won’t fade away.

Today I’m going to give you tips on what type of makeup remover is best to take off your beautilicious face daily. Yea, I know some of you are saying ” I already know how to take off my makeup, I use soap and water.” FYI- Soap and water does not always take off your makeup thoroughly. Others may be saying “I don’t remove my makeup at all, I sleep in it!” Sleeping in your makeup is far worse than using soap and water ladies!

Following are some tips for you to go by:

If you wear regular powder eyeshadows and blushes, khol eye pencils and regular cream lipsticks and lip glosses, I suggest you use an oil- free makeup remover like Equate Facial Cleansing Towelettes by WalMart – $5.00. These are my favorites. I have them on my nightstand for those late nights when I don’t feel like going through my whole regimen. One towelette will gently take off all your makeup in a flash. This is great for those of you who go to bed with makeup on.

If you wear cream eyeshadows, waterproof liquid or gel eyeliners, waterproof mascaras and semi- permanent lip colors, you should use an oil- based dual action remover like Lancôme Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover – $26. This product will make it so easy for you to remove your water resistant makeup.

For those of you who wear contacts, always look for removers that are good for sensitive eyes. My pick is Aveeno Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Cleanser – $6.99. It’s a great product that won’t irritate your eyes. Make sure all makeup removers you use are ophthalmologist tested.

Remember to use cotton balls, Q-Tips and soft facial tissue with the correct product to remove your makeup.

Gently take off your makeup with the remover. The eye area tissue is very delicate so don’t rub too hard.

After removing all traces of makeup, wash your face thoroughly with the appropriate facial cleanser for your skin type.

Stay Beautilicious!
