MISSISSIPPI MAMA’S HOME COOKIN’ – The Freezer
For the final food “must haves” that you should keep as staples we’ll be discussing the freezer. This one will be short one but enlightening!
Butter–Yeah, I know, it was in the fridge, too. This is one thing you NEVER want to be
without!!
Bacon–Ditto above statement
Frozen Veggies–ok–I have found that some prefer canned veggies over frozen. To me, frozen tastes more like fresh.
Just add some cans of your favorite canned veggies to your pantry list, if you prefer. The recipes will work either way…Although it is good
to have some frozen peas on hand for injuries. (The peas mold to the injured area
better than ice or ice packs.)
Chopped Spinach—this is great to add to pasta or for dips
Skinless, Boneless Chicken Breast–these are easy to defrost and can be used for so
many dishes. You can also substitute boneless chicken thighs.
Hamburger Meat–I suggest an 80/20 mix. There is less fat in it. Again, an easy dinner.
Sirloin Steak–the steak you CAN afford!! You can cook steak, kabobs, or so many
other dishes. It is very economical and flavorful.
Ice Cream–VERY easy dessert!!
Told you this list was short so now let’s have some fun. The next few posts will be some of my favorite quick and easy recipes. Beginning in November, we will cover some holiday meals since they’re right around the corner. We will cover it all…even party foods!! Any requests?? Send them to me! Enjoy!!

I use the frozen peas all the time for injuries. And a lot of times, I purchase both ground beef and ground turkey. For some dishes, the ground turkey is too dry, but I love love love grilled turkey burgers!!
i know you are trying to go healthy with the ground turkey—BUT…. if you add some bacon–it wouldn’t be dry…just sayin’ lol
