CONFESSIONS OF A HIGH MAINTENANCE CHICK – A Hangover Free Beauty Guide For The Holidays
Dialing up the drama with your make-up can be equated to drinking with a bunch of your gal pals. The more you consume, the more your inhibitions lower and your confidence rises. Let’s say you walk into a party around 8:30pm. You are looking hot, but somewhat doubting that bold red lipstick you chose, but by evening’s end, you’ve dumped a bucket of glitter over your head.
Albeit non-scientific, I’ve created a “holiday look” guide just for you. Depending on your drink of choice, you will find hangover free beauty tips.
In the beauty world, a glass of champagne is the equivalent to a shimmering face powder. Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Bricks are famous for their color-to-shimmer ratio. Get your glow on by using a fluffy powder or bronzer brush and apply your shimmer powder on the ‘raised’ areas of your face: Top of cheeks, bridge of nose, chin and forehead.
Red Wine Sangria and the perfect red lip have something in common. Both are beautiful and classic. To create the perfect, long lasting crimson lip: De-flake lips by gently massaging lips with a warm, wet washcloth. Hydrate your lips with a lip conditioner. Allow the condition to penetrate and blot off the excess. Apply lipstick with a lip brush. My ‘Holy Grail’ favorite red lippie is MAC’s Russian Red. Line lips with a sharp red pencil and apply a gloss of your choice to just the center of the lips to keep it neat and smudge free.
Non-Alcoholic Eggnog: Lash out loud with a set of fake lashes. If you are mild mannered by day, a set of half lashes are the perfect touch to any holiday outfit, day or night. It’s just that subtle little extra oomph that will leave people wondering, “What you have done?” They will say, “WOW. Your eyes look great!”. No need to share all your diva secrets.
Eggnog with a sidecar of bourbon: You may have been able to get away with sneaking in those half lashes, but by donning full set of lashes… the gig is up and your secret is out. While not exactly an appropriate choice for the workplace (neither is spiked eggnog) or at your kid’s soccer game (well, maybe just a little nip), big buxom fake lashes do have their place on the holiday beauty scene. Contrary to conventional wisdom, these bad boys can be worn at even the most casual of holiday gatherings… if, and only if, you are prepared to be the center of attention.
Baileys and Coffee: You’ve got a bold colorful eye with the fullest fake lashes you can find. I know what you are probably thinking… “Party’s over girlfriend, call a cab”. Not quite yet pretty lady. I’ve got an unexpected twist to turn the drama up one more notch… a nude lip. As crazy as it sounds, creating a strong contrast between lip and eye can be even more dramatic than a red lip with a bold eye look.
Jell-O Shots: Add some festive color ‘shots’ to your everyday look by adding jewel tone dashes of sapphire, amethyst and emerald. By adding a jewel tone eyeliner and lid color, you instantly update your look. Not sure which jewel is for you? There are no rules when choosing eye shadow color, but here are a few suggestions to get you started: Brown eyes look create with sapphire shades. Green eyes really pop with amethyst shades and blue eyes dazzle with a touch of emerald.
Dirty Martini: There is a distinct difference between shimmer and glitter. As you may recall, shimmer was likened to champagne. Glitter is big, chunky, metallic and high octane like a martini… shaken, not stirred. The most practical way to shine and avoid looking like a 100 proof disco ball is to use glitter that is safe for use around the eye and gently dust it over your eye shadow. A word of warning: It gets everywhere, so be prepared or put on your clothes after application. You can also great a sticky surface for the glitter to adhere to by using lipgloss as a base and sprinkling glitter on top.
So have fun and remember to put your makeup on responsibly. (Either that or find a designated makeup artist who can get you there safely.)
Cheers!

This is great!!! Love your ideas!
