THE DR. PHILBILLY SHOW – Jack’s Rocking Chair

Submitted by admin on Monday, 14 December 20092 Comments

Dr. Philbilly 150 x 150I normally get up every morning about 5:30 to get ready for work and help the boys get off to school. So, the boys are dressed and fed and have just gotten on the school bus. It’s still dark outside and through our sheer curtains I see something flash by the living room window.

I see what appears to be sparks going down my road when I hear this awful racket and then a dog barking. It sounds like my father-in-law’s dog, Jack. I’m wondering what the heck is going on?

Jack is a Jack Russell Terrier, and not a big dog at all but he thinks he’s a St. Bernard. He normally chases the bus every morning but my father-in-law has been trying to keep him tied up in the mornings to keep him from getting run over. This morning he apparently tied him to the rocking chair on his front porch. The rocking chair that used to be on his front porch I should say.

That plan went out the window big time, because you see, now I am watching the rocking chair go down the road being pulled by Jack. There are metal screws in the chair and they spark off the pavement. It actually looks kinda cool in the dark. Jack is determined that he going to catch this bus. Can you imagine driving down the road and getting chased by a dang rocking chair?

A few minutes later Jack comes back up the hill. Next thing I see is my father-in-law coming around the side of the barn with his morning coffee all over the front of his shirt….and he ain’t happy. Apparently he was just about to sit in his favorite rocking chair when it suddenly, and without warning, shot out from underneath him.

Poor ole Jack looks worn out. The rocking chair is beat to heck and back and I can still see the steam coming off of my father-in-law’s shirt. I wish every morning could start out this much fun. I’m just sayin’.
