THE DR. PHILBILLY SHOW – Little Darrin’s Prayer
Not too long ago some of Melissa’s cousins came down from Lafayette, LA to visit and we all went to one of our favorite places to eat, Jack’s Fish House. We take turns placing our orders and then we talk for a while catching up. As our food arrives and we prepare to start eating I noticed that Melissa’s cousin, Little Darrin, had his hat off and his head bowed.
Little Darrin was about 17 at the time so I’m thinking to myself, “Wow, I’m really impressed that a 17 year old kid is praying in public without getting embarrassed.” But he has wonderful parents so I really wasn’t too shocked. Little Darrin has always been a good kid and is developing into a good man so to show him my support I bowed my head also, said my payer but continued to bow my head out of respect until he was finished.
Man, this kid can really pray, he was taking forever….but you do your thing Darrin.
I’m really proud of him at this moment so I take the opportunity to say another short prayer and when I look up he still has his head bowed. I closed my eyes once again and I wait. After a few minutes I sneak a peek to see if he is finished. Not yet. Ok, I bow my head again and I sneak another peak.
Now I’m all about prayer, it has gotten me out of many binds, but he must be praying for everybody that he knows!
So I wait, and I wait some more, and the fish is starting to smell really good and I’m getting very hungry. Finally he lifts up his head and I say “Amen” and I start to chow down on some delicious catfish. I looked over at Little Darrin and said “Little Darrin, that was some prayer. I’m very impressed with you young man.”
He looks at me real funny, thinks for a moment like he is confused, then smiles really big (every kid loves a little praise and a pat on the back) but then starts laughing. He is laughing so hard he is crying real tears. What’s up this kid? Little Darrin lifts up his phone to show it to me and says “Dude, I was texting my girlfriend.”
I just lower my head and start eating.

very funny!!!! (I also believe in prayer but I do love catfish and I especially love it hot!)
LISA
Lisa, if you are ever in my neck of the woods I will personally take you to Jack’s Fish House. It is awesome.
a) lol, you couldn’t see the light from the phone?
b) good job praying – keep it up
c) where is jacks?
LOL!! I am fooled most of the time by my son too. I often think he is hard at his studies only to discover he is texting away.
