THE DR. PHILBILLY SHOW – Thrifty Shopper
My wife does eBay so naturally she is a huge thrift store shopper to find items to resale. She gets some really great deals on shoes, pants, shirts, etc. Sometimes she even finds things with the tags still on them. Well, the other day she found two really nice shirts from the local Goodwill and bought them for me. She said they were just my style and just my size.
She was waiting for me at the door when I got home from work and tells me to go try them on. I looked at them and they actually were very nice shirts. So I try them on and look in the mirror. A perfect fit. She is making me turn around and spin, like a dang model or something. I thanked her for the shirts and went to my room to hang them up in my closet. Before I put them on the hangers I was inspecting them for tags and such so I could remove them.
Now let me back up just for a minute if you don’t mind. We are also big givers to the thrift stores and have been for years. I hate for things to go to waste, especially things that are still in good condition and someone can still get some good use out of it. And it helps out on our taxes, as well.
Now, as I was inspecting these two shirts I noticed a dry cleaning tag in the collar that needed to be removed. As I removed the staples I just happened to notice the name of the tag. It read “CARLAN” in big bold letters. That’s right, it happened! She just bought me the same dang shirts I just donated only a few weeks before.
Hmmmm! Now I’m in kind of a pickle here. Should I tell Melissa about it and laugh my butt off at her or should I just hang them up and not say anything? I thought about it and decided to be nice about the whole thing, so of course I showed her the tags and laughed my butt off.
Shirts brand new $40, shirts from the Goodwill $2, the look on my wife’s face when she realized she bought back our own donated clothes “PRICELESS!”

that so sounds like something i would do!
Lil Paige…Say it ain’t so, lol. Just say it ain’t sooo!!!!!
Loved the story. It’s priceless!
Toni….I think it would have made a wonderful priceless commercial, lol. I think I might submit it…I’m just sayin’. Would u play Melissa in the comercial?
That is too funny. You should have gotten the video camera out for the reveal. Then everyone could have seen the priceless face.
I love reading your posts. You crack me up! Thanks for keeping us laughing!!
