ERIN’S STYLE FILE – Everything Old Is New Again
Lately, I’ve seen a resurgence of trends from the 80s—neon, stirrup leggings, acid wash jeans, shoulder pads and jelly shoes to name a few. I’m digging the neon. Although neon was forecast for the fall (see “It’s Fall Y’all”) I’m loving it as a bright pop of color as we usher in the spring. While shopping this weekend, I spied neon skirts, tanks and cardigans in several stores. I’m a huge fan of leggings although the stirrup aspect is a little much. Acid wash denim wasn’t appealing to me then and isn’t now, either. It’s a little “Rock of Love” for my tastes. And the shoulder pads are a little too “Dynasty” for me. I’m still undecided on the jelly shoes.
With all of these recycled trends, what do you dread coming back in? High on my list are fanny packs and tight rolled jeans!

You nailed it on the head with those tight rolled jeans, please let’s hope they stay away! Love the neon’s too!
I loved the shoulder pads when they were popular! They make your waist look smaller!!! HA

Hmmm, then I might have to try that trend, Lisa!
Say what! Fanny packs & tight rolled jeans went out? When did that happen? All the tourists in FL wear fanny packs. LOL! I totally agree- no acid wash for me, tight roll, fanny packs, big hair, off the shoulder shirts… Well, the off the shoulder shirt wouldn’t be too bad. I did used to dig the neon big time. And my nieces have been wearing jelly shoes and bracelets for about a year or two now. Bringing back the 80′s! Good times, good times.
I’m down with the jellies! I’ve seen some cute sandals. If/when I find a pair, I hope I can wait until summer…
I totally agree re: shoulder pads. Also, I’ll add that neon colors don’t look good on everyone. Please tell your fans to keep their individual skin tones in mind. Happy 80s!
love the tie-dye jeggings
