MISSISSIPPI MAMA’S HOME COOKING – Dump Cake

Submitted by admin on Thursday, 18 February 2010No Comment

This recipe is so easy and great.  It is kinda like the cobbler recipe that posted during the holidays, with the difference being the crust.  This one does not have a thick crust like the cobbler.  Also the cobbler uses frozen fruits.  Frozen fruits, if left in the freezer too long, can get freezer burn.  That does not taste good!!  This one uses canned pie filling and that lasts longer than the frozen stuff.

Just like with the frozen cobbler recipe, you can use all one fruit, or mix it up.  I have to say again, I love the blueberry and blackberry combination.  Also remember, ice cream on top is heaven!!

Dump Cake

2 cans pie filling–mix and match or do 2 of the same

butter

yellow cake mix

Preheat the oven to 350.  Take the pie fillings and dump into a dish.  Spread so it is even in the pan.  Take the cake mix and sprinkle over the top.  You can make this as thick or as thin as you want.  Make sure all filling is covered with the cake mix.  Slice the butter into thin slices.  Place this all over the top.  The more the merrier!!  Place in oven for 30 – 45 minutes or until browned and bubbly.

My daughter wants me to try to melt the butter first and then pour over the topping.  Try that and let me know how it turns out.  Top with ice cream, if you have it, and Enjoy!!
